Cathy Lynn Taphorn left us on July 18th, 2022. Although it was ALS that finally won, Cathy fought until the end. Cathy was born in Carroll Iowa to Duane and Carolyn in 1966, one of 3 girls. She went to Iowa State University for undergrad and Veterinary School graduating in 1991. After working at a couple of veterinary clinics she set up her own practice specializing in alternative medicines in Downers Grove Illinois. She was a healer that helped many, many animals and the families that they lived with. She retired one hour before her husband, Scott Strader in 2017 and that year they relocated to Roxborough Park Colorado. Hiking and exploring Colorado was something she loved since moving there. She loved to bake and was quite accomplished at it. Nothing was better in the winter than when she went ice skating which in turn led to her love of the Chicago Blackhawks. Being outdoors watching animals, working in the garden, listening to concerts, festivals and art fairs were a valuable part of her life.

Cathy was preceded by her grandparents, her father in 2006 and her brother in law Mike in 2009. There are 4 dogs now that are so excited and happy to see her. She is survived by her husband of almost 30 years Scott, her sisters Christy and Cindy, her nieces Tasha, Tacie, Mara, and Halie, and 8 grand nieces and nephews. She has many great friends and neighbors who are missing her.

Cremation is private. Cathy said “ if people insist ” donations can be made to ; Rocky Mountain Conservancy, Wild Animal Sanctuary or Refuge, Sanibel SCCF, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, IowaState University, or the Two Mile High Club (Cripple Creek Donkeys). Most of all she would prefer people be kind to one another and value each other. She will be missed.
