Jo Ann Edgerton passed away on July 23, 2022. She was born on July 28, 1951 to the late Vernon and Willie Edgerton. Jo Ann was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Smyrna. She graduated from Ohio’s Bowling Green State University with a degree in speech and hearing. She also graduated from Pensacola Christian College with her Masters in Education. She spent many years teaching fourth grade and after 35 years, she retired. Jo Ann loved her students and enjoyed making art for her classrooms. She was a devoted teacher who strived to make a difference in all her students’ lives and she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Fran Daniel. She is survived by her sister, Deane Marie Nelson; niece, Amy Rivera; nephew, David Nelson; niece, Lauren Schernecky; great nieces and nephews, Reese and Archer Schernecky, Amelia Rivera, Hannah Nelson and David Nelson Jr.; brother-in-law, Bill Daniel; cousin, Jimmy (Darlene) Burnette; and extended family.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services for Ms. Edgerton will be on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation beginning at 11:30am and lasting until service time beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Doug Huggins officiating. Interment will follow at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
