Balchus, Donald E.

Suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2022, Donald E., age 75, of Westwood, formerly of Ingram.  Beloved husband of Lillian Schlosser Balchus. Don and Lillian just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 7th. Loving father of Kristen E. (Russell) Columbus and dear grandfather of Kevin A. Columbus.  Brother of Jerilyn S. (Albert) Teplin and brother-in law of William (Patricia) Schlosser. Also survived by several nephews and a niece. Don was the devoted son of Edward F. and Pauline S. Balchus, who preceded him in death.  Special thanks to the doctors and nurses in Allegheny General Hospital's Surgical Intensive Care Unit 12C for the excellent and compassionate care they provided to Don and his family during his brief stay there. Friends received at the Hershberger-Stover Inc. Funeral Home, 170 Noble Avenue, Crafton, on Thursday 2-4 and 6 PM until 7:30 PM at which time the funeral service will be held at the funeral home. Inurnment, with military honors, will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date. Don was very proud of his Lithuanian and Slovak heritage and took great interest in researching family history.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and birding along with his beloved Lillian.
