Helen Maxine Carter (Mickey), 92, passed away unexpectedly on November 22 nd , 2021 at her residence
in Independent Living of Enclave in Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie and
Mickey was born to Asher and Helen Dietrich, April 1 st , 1929 in Denver, CO. She was raised in the
Colorado Rockies in a small cabin near Baily. When it was time for her to go to high school, she and her
parents moved to Wheatridge, CO. After high school, she worked for the Bell Phone Company in the
She met her future husband, Jimmie, at a roller-skating rink in Denver. She was an excellent roller skater
and he was just learning. (You could say he fell for her) They married in 1950. Upon the arrival of their
first child, Gary, Mickey became a stay-at-home mother. Jimmie was working for Phillips Petroleum and
was transferred to Colorado Springs. After living there for several years, they welcomed their second
In 1968 they moved to Albuquerque, NM and this is where she spent the next 38 years of her life. She
had a robust life filled with square dancing, hiking, quilting and friendships. After the passing of Jimmie
in 2005, she moved to Tucson, AZ to be closer to Gayle. She spent 8 years in Tucson enjoying the
weather and companionship of Brad and Gayle. In 2018 she moved to Gilbert, AZ again to be close to
Gayle and lived at the Enclave until her passing.
There will be a private ceremony at a later time where Helen will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park in
Albuquerque, NM, next to her husband, Jimmie and son, Gary.
