Kevin John Haugen Obituary

Kevin John Haugen, 66, of Bend, Oregon passed away on July 8, 2022. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on August 5th, 2022 at 2:30pm. Kevin was born January 1, 1956 to John and Corrine Haugen in Vancouver, Washington. Upon graduating from Walla Walla High School in 1974, he went on to study Art at Spokane Falls Community College. After spending some time living in Tempe, Arizona, Kevin worked as Security and Parking Lot Supervisor for Mt. Bachelor. In 1991 he began his 17 year career as a Sign Painter, specializing in hand-painting billboards (Budweiser horses, City of Redmond, McMenamins St. Francis, among many others), hand lettering, and vinyl installation. In 2008, he left Carlson Sign to care for his mother during her final years. For the last 7 years, he has been the Assistant Facilities Manager at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he was a valued and much-loved employee at the time of his death. Kevin enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing for rainbow trout in Fall River and scoping out the perfect hunting spot in Eastern Oregon. When indoors, he was known by close friends and family for his incredible illustrations and watercolor paintings. Kevin never knew a stranger. He was always someone you could ask for any type of help and he would drop everything he was doing to assist you in anyway possible. Friends and family witnessed his incredible love for all animals, especially his dogs and the numerous stray cats that he adopted (he was even known to feed raccoons on the front porch of his house). Kevin had a big heart and a distinctive laugh that was somewhat infectious…his laugh compelled others to laugh along with him. We will greatly miss that shared laughter. He is survived by his sister Candi (husband Gordon Halstead), of Laramie, Wyoming; twin brother Karl (wife Barb and stepson Brian Radke), of Estacada, Oregon and Camas, Washington; his daughter, Hailey Rowe (and her mother, Belinda Rowe-Hallcraft) of Bend, Oregon; and his loving Jack Russell Terrier, Bodie. He is preceded in death by his Father John Haugen; his Mother Corinne Haugen; and his devoted dogs Babe, Greta and CJ.
