Rene C. Houle of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 18, 2022.

Rene is survived by his sons, Michael and Andrew, his step-grandchildren Danika (Ben), Damien (Rayelle), Jorden (Lexis) and Jaden, his great-grandchildren Feyora and James and his siblings Louise (Rick) Pullen, Paul (Patti) Houle, Marie (Pierre) Barnabe and David (Debbie) Houle. Rene will also be lovely remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Rene was predeceased by his parents Adelard and Ninette Houle.

Rene worked most of his life maintaining pools for the City of Winnipeg and retired at the age of 55. Rene was an avid storyteller and his family and friends will remember countless hours spent on the phone and in person, listening to his many stories. Rene was the friend you could count on if you needed a hand. Whether you needed a ride somewhere or you needed help fixing, building or moving something, Rene was always quick to jump in and lend a hand. Rene made a point to make friends with everyone in his neighborhood and was always available for a chat, a helping hand or just a friendly wave. Rene will be fondly remembered as "the frog man" as he had a large and varied collection of frog themed items that he added to regularly. Frog pictures, figurines, blankets and more could be found in every room of his home. For those who knew him best, frogs will always be a fond reminder of Rene.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba, with an interment at a future date.
