Verna May Ringrose Obituary

Passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday July 19, 2022, at the age of 79 years, Verna May Ringrose (nee Lalonde), of Glenboro, MB.

Verna was born in Glenboro MB on May 2, 1943 to Otto & Florence Lalonde.  She spent the early part of her life on her parents farm north of Glenboro & started school at age five at the Patricia School and later attended the school in Glenboro.

She loved her pets and always had a dog and cat at home.  Verna & her future sister-in-law Devona Oliphant, completed hair dressing school in Winnipeg and she worked at that for some time in Brandon, MB.

On December 8, 1962 Verna married Bill Ringrose at the residence of Alma & Joe Lalonde and lived at various locations in Manitoba over the following years.  Her daughter, Mona, was born November 1, 1963 followed by Deborah on February 20, 1967 and Glen November 23, 1968.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and relatives and after her family moved to Flin Flon in 1993 and being an avid fisher person, she was in her glory.

Bill retired from the Bank after almost 42 years in 2000 and that started numerous casino trips within Canada and the United States, often with family, relatives and friends.

They moved to Glenboro to a beautiful home near the golf course on December 14, 2008 and continued to enjoy their recreational activities right up to the time of her passing.

Verna’s passing was sudden and unexpected and she will be sadly missed by her husband, family & friends.

A man is only as good as the woman beside him.  Verna worked tirelessly in support of Bill’s career at CIBC being a stay-at-home mother and wife raising and supporting the family.  She did everything with her children whether it was baseball, golf, curling, bowling, cross county or downhill skiing.  In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still.  In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill.

Verna leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Bill, three children Mona (Gordon) Keyes of Flin Flon, MB, Debbie (Hartley) Macklin of Winnipeg, MB, Glen (Doreen) Ringrose of Thompson, MB; five grandchildren Caitlin, Holly (Cory), Maxie (Kody), Gabrielle & Sadie; brothers Tom (Anne) Lalonde of Kamloops, BC, Lyall (Margie) Lalonde of Winnipeg, MB, sister Patricia Ginter (Ed Grandy) as well as numerous extended relatives.

Verna was predeceased by her parents Buster & Florence Lalonde, and by brothers Jack & sister-in-law Berna Lalonde and Bruce & sister-in-in-law Devona Lalonde.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Glenboro Cemetery with Sharon Hamilton officiating.

Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Verna’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st St. Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
