Utica, NY: Mrs. Roseann C. Petronio, 86, passed away unexpectedly, with her family by her side, Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center of MVHS.
She was born in Utica, NY, May 9, 1936, a daughter of the late Vincenzo J. “Jimmy” and Judith “Julia” (Camardo) Cardone. Roseann was raised and educated in Utica, where she graduated from T. R. Proctor High School, with the class of 1954.
It was on May 18, 1957, in St. Agnes Church, in Utica, where she married Robert C. Petronio; the couple shared in a union blessed with over 65 years of marriage.
Roseann spent many winters in Naples, FL with her beloved husband, Bob; he is an avid fisherman and she often accompanied him fishing at the pier with many of their friends. Roseann dedicated her life to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, cooking, and laughing at family gatherings.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Bob; a daughter and son-in-law, Maria J. and Joseph DiCarlo of Wakefield, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Becky Petronio of Whitesboro; five grandchildren, Jenalee DiCarlo, Janelle and Kevin Lauer, Jaclyn and Matthew Bossi, Vincent and Emmie Petronio, and Brianna and Erik Cooper; seven great-grandchildren, Alessandra Lepore, Eliana Lepore, Kennedi Lauer, Mia Lauer, Jack Lauer, Tyler Bossi, and Oliver Petronio. Also surviving are her in-laws, Carol Cardone Roefaro of Utica, and Civita and Jerry Schilling of FL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Vito and Katie Cardone, Nick and Maggie Cardone, and Jack Cardone; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Claire Petronio.
Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 at the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica (at the Matt Funeral Home). Roseann’s funeral and celebration of life will commence on Monday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The Mass will be livestreamed. You can view it on the parish You Tube page, at https://youtube.com/c/StMaryofMountCarmelBlessedSacrament. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
