Clayton W. Dame 64 of Hazelton, In. passed away at his home on Monday July 18, 2022. Clayton was born December 9, 1957, in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Clayton's father (who has preceded him in death) is Walter Ray Yarbrough. Clayton was greatly blessed with having three mothers. His birth mother was Barbara Newman Dame Stewart (who preceded him in death). His Grandmother Hazel Wade Newman (who preceded him in death) of Cowling, Illinois served as his mother for many years until Clayton (in his young teenage years) moved to Vincennes, Indiana with his Aunt Gloria Newman Emmons (who he called Mom and also has preceded him in death). Clayton had a great love for his Grandfather Clifford "Red" Newman (who preceded him in death) when Clayton was a youngster. He spoke of Gloria and Clifford with high regards. Clayton loved playing basketball. In his late teens he coached a YMCA league (that did very well). As well Clayton was an IU fan. He enjoyed watching his Grandchildren play basketball, various sports and activities. Clayton worked as a Union Bricklayer local 4 out of Terre Haute and Evansville, Indiana for most of his life. He was excellent at his craft. It was certainly his calling. After he retired, he and his sons worked as a family in Dame Masonry. Their slogan being: "We're not just bricklayers; we are masons"   Clayton is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Geheb Dame (who left this world way too soon). Clayton was the father of five. Daughter: Amber Brook Dame (who preceded him in death). Twin Daughters: Tabitha Shaine McCarter of Vincennes, Indiana and Tennille Delaine Dreiman of Bicknell, Indiana. Son: Ian Yarbrough Dame (wife Kara) of Hazelton, IN and Son: Heath Yarbrough Dame (wife Tanisha) of Evansville, Indiana His grandchildren are Cameron Johnson Messeman of Vincennes, Cora Collins of Vincennes, Isaiah Collins of Vincennes, Jayda Messeman of Bicknell, Nya Dame of Hazleton, Bentley Leverett of Bicknell, Max Dame of Evansville, Kian Dame of Hazleton, Kiya Dame of Hazleton. Clayton was known to his grandkids as "Paps" and "Papaw". Clayton has a sister Debbie Carty and a niece Chastity Splittorff of Albion, Illinois. Also, Aunt Glenna Spruell of Grayville, Illinois.   The family will receive friends Sunday July 24, 2022, at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home, 521 Vigo Street in Vincennes, In, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. There will be a funeral service held at 6:00 PM. As per his request cremation will take place. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul or the donor's Charity of Choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Clayton’s family during their time of loss.
