Thomas J. Smith

<p>Thomas J. Smith, age 61, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Columbia City passed away at 7:43 am on Monday July 18, 2022, at Majestic Care Jefferson Pointe, Fort Wayne.&nbsp; Born on August 10, 1960 in Huntington, IN, he was the son of Richard L. &ldquo;Smitty&rdquo; and MaDonna R. (Cunningham) Smith.</p> <p>Thomas attended Columbia City High School and graduated with the Class of 1978.&nbsp; He then attended ITT Technical Institute and graduated with two degrees.&nbsp; Thomas never missed a day of work from the time he graduated.&nbsp;</p> <p>Thomas worked as an electrician and was also pleased to have served on the Whitley County Sheriff Reserve for 20 years.&nbsp; He was a York Rite Mason and member of Blue Knights International.&nbsp; Thomas enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, shooting, collecting a variety of unique items, and volunteering for Shop with a Cop.</p> <p>Survivors include his sister Tammy Smith of Fort Wayne and aunt Lula Belle Little of Columbia City.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents.</p> <p>A gathering for friends will be held on Saturday July 23, 2022, from 1:30-3:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.</p> <p>Memorial contributions in memory of Thomas may be made to Shop with a Cop.</p> <p>Visit www.demoneygrimes.com to send condolences or sign the online guest register.</p>

I worked closely with Tom for 12 years. He was a man that, without a second thought, would help anyone. I enjoyed hearing about his many hobbies, he was definitely a man with a exquisite taste! Ill miss his antics and Im glad hes with Skeeter again.
