Theresa Brown Obituary

PRESQUE ISLE - Theresa Brown, 93, passed away at Leisure Village on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was born June 25, 1929, in Madawaska, the daughter of Estelle Cote Evans Walker and Edward Evans. She attended parochial school as a child and graduated from Caribou High School. Shortly after graduation she accepted a job at the Maine Potato Inspection Department where she worked for 38 years until her retirement in 1985.
Theresa met Cecil “Brownie” Brown, the love of her life and they were married on September 27, 1952. Theresa spoke often of her beautiful beaded wedding gown handmade by Cecil’s mother. Together, Cecil and Theresa, built their home on 47 Pine Street in Presque Isle, where she lived for over 60 years. They had many memorable parties and holiday celebrations where their home was filled with laughter and dancing. They were married for 32 years until Cecil’s death in 1985.
Since Theresa decided that driving a car was not for her, she was often seen walking from her home to the downtown stores on Main Street. Theresa loved her beautiful clothes and jewelry and was always familiar with the latest fashions and styles. She and her dear friend, Maria, loved butterflies. Anyone who visited Theresa at Leisure Village got to see her butterfly decor firsthand. Theresa enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and could solve the puzzles even before Vanna White had a chance!
Theresa was pre deceased by her husband, Cecil, her parents, her loving grandmother, Alma Cote and two special aunts, Analda and Anita Cote.
Theresa is survived by her sister, Wendy Walker Gordon of East Bridgewater, MA, a sister-in-law, Jane Dillon and her husband Ed of Hopedale, MA, several nieces and nephews, special friends, Ross and Norma Grenier, Steve Jones and Harold Durost, who helped her often and cared for her deeply. Theresa was blessed with many wonderful friends, Deno, Maria, Lori, Cathy, Dot and Norma, who helped her over the years and showed her kindness. Recently, a sweet caregiver, Emily, came into Theresa’s life. Theresa called Emily “her little firecracker” as she brought so much joy to her.
Keeping with Theresa’s wishes, a mass of Christian burial will be held at the graveside 10:30 Tuesday July 26, 2022 at St Mary’s North Main Catholic Cemetery in Presque Isle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowers Funeral Home.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Leisure Village and the doctors, nurses and staff at Northern Lights -AR Gould for taking care of Theresa this past year. Online condolences may be shared at www.bowersfuneralhome.com
