Robert Dale Branson Obituary

Robert Dale Branson, 91, of Shelbyville, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 16, 2022.  He was born on August 4, 1930 to Orville and Ruth (Phares) Branson who preceded him in death.

Bob had 8 siblings, 5 brothers and 3 sisters: Milly May Branson, Dorothy (Charley) McNeely, Francis (Jack) Hasecuster all from Shelbyville , preceded him in death. Also preceding him were Johnny (Barb) Branson of Rays Crossing, IN; Gerald (Nell) Branson of Waldron, IN; Bud (Velma) Branson of Anderson, IN; Surviving siblings are Harold (Rose) Branson of Shelbyville and Tom (Judy) Branson of Morristown, IN. 

Bob married Chris Self on December 14, 1984, and she brings one son, Skip (Tracy) Self of Shelbyville; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild into Bob's family.  Bob's first wife, Beverly Ann (Minton) preceded him in death in May 2021.  They were blessed with 3 children: Keith (Sherry) Branson; Kathy (Daryl) Kuntz and Kevin (Michelle) Branson, all living in Shelbyville. They added 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren to Bob's family.

Bob was a charter member of the Blue River Lions Club, was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Newmar Camping Club and the Blue River Camping Club. Bob was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge in Shelbyville. Bob served on the Shelby County Fair Board for several years. He joined the Morristown Masonic Lodge in 1956 and continued on to the Scotish Rite and the Indianapolis Murat Shrine. 

Bob retired from Indiana Bell Telephone in 1985; he also worked for CG Theobald Realty for several years before opening Branson Realty in the mid 70's.  Bob enjoyed going to casinos, camping, playing cards, traveling, spending winters in Arizona, and most of all spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN at noon on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  A Masonic service will be held at 11:45 am prior to the start of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Blue River Lions Club. Immediately following the burial, all are invited to the Knights of Columbus, 413 E. South Street in Shelbyville for food, fellowship and camaraderie.
