Obituary

Bradley "Brad" William Congleton, age 59, left us without his joyful presence on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Brad was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and had a second home close to his precious grandchildren in Dothan, Alabama, where he passed away while visiting for the weekend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at Cross Point Church in Santa Rosa Beach. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service time at the church.

Brad was born in Tacoma, Washington to his loving parents, Roger and Sandra, the first son of their three boys. Since Roger was an Air Force officer they moved frequently in his younger years. He spent around five years in Holland where he had many friends and a life there he loved. He always held Holland very close to his heart. They moved to Fort Walton Beach after leaving Holland and Brad never left the area.

He was a CPA for 20 years serving as "The CPA on 30A". He loved his work and putting people at ease while doing taxes, a very stressful event for most. He always had a joke ready and wanted to make an otherwise stressful meeting as pleasant as he could.

He married his wife, Rebecca or Becky, in 2014 and such love and adventure they did enjoy. Brad welcomed Becky's 3 children with open arms and a gusto to share joy and fun with them. The children affectionately named him "StepBrad" the "Ambassador of Fun". He always was making a plan for what the adventure of that gathering would hold. Always huge laughter, silliness, bonding and incredible memories were made. Then the grandchildren came and brought Brad more unexpected joy than he had ever known!

Brad found tremendous joy in sports and had favorite teams in every sport. He took great pleasure in statistical spread sheets of all the players. He often said he just needed to relax with some spread sheets. Always an accountant.

Brad lived and loved so big. Getting lost was a great adventure because you discovered things you would have never seen otherwise. All of life was an adventure to Brad and he dove in with a lust for life like few others.

His spirit, laughter, jokes, generosity and kindness will be sharply missed by those who loved him so dearly.

Brad was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Congleton.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Clayton; his stepchildren, Brad (Brittany) Clayton of Dothan, Sara Beth Clayton of New York City and Bonnie (Justin) April of Dothan; his grandchildren, Julian Clayton and Ollie April; his parents, LTC USAF (Ret) Roger and Sandra Congleton; His brother, Travis (Jodi) Congleton, his sister-in-law, Kathy (Leon) Cheshire; and his nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Tanner) Dees, Chase Congleton and Keaton Congleton.
