Robert S. Metcalf, 73, of Bellingham, MA, formerly of Hopedale, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 in Bellingham. Robert had been a teacher in the Town of Marshfield and at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School for 25 years before retiring. He also served on two school committees - in the Town of Hopedale and Blackstone Valley. Previously, he had owned and operated home improvement construction companies in the Milford area. He was born in Framingham, MA, son of the late Fred and Regina (Swift) Metcalf of Hopedale, and was a graduate of Milford High School. He was also a graduate of Boston College, and later pursued a Master of Education at Fitchburg State College. Amongst his leisure activities, he always enjoyed reading and weight lifting. He is survived by a son, Shawn Metcalf, and daughter in-law, Sharon, and three grandchildren, Travis, Justin, and Gavin Metcalf, and a daughter, Chelsie Metcalf. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marci Metcalf. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services will be private.
