Glen Arthur Avenson

Glen Arthur Avenson went to be with our Lord on January 14, 2017. Glen passed away at the Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN at the age of 85. Glen was born to Egbert and Albertina Avenson on Sept. 9, 1931. He lived in Dorset with his parents and three older siblings; the family later moving to Nevis, MN. He attended school at Dorset, Nevis and later at the University of Washington in Seattle. He was in the U.S. Army during WW II, serving in a special unit as a “Trust Trooper” stationed in Trieste, Italy with the Army of the occupation. After his discharge, Glen worked at Boeing in Seattle, WA. As part of his job there he designed a tail part for President Eisenhower’s Air Force One plane. Later he worked for METRO Services, for the city of Seattle, retiring after 31 years. Glen moved back to the Park Rapids area in 2000, spending summers here in MN; and his winters in McAllen, TX. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his wives – Mary and Alte, his brother – Bert Avenson. He is survived by his brother – Dean Avenson of Iowa; his sister- Eunice Koenker of Backus, MN. And many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset, MN. Pastor Chris Davis will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Star of the North Marine Corp League Honors Team. Taps by Ray Vaadeland. Friends may leave online condolences at ceasefuneralhome.com. I was very sorry to read of Glen's passing he was my step-father for a time. We used to vivit him in Park Rapids even after my mom had passed. Mrs Jane Golphy
