Norton “Buck” Leroy Bass was born March 20, 1930, in Mehama, Oregon, and passed away on July 10, 2022, in Bend, Oregon. He was 92 years old. Buck moved to Bend when he was just 14 years old to work in the sawmill. He served in the Army and was stationed in Whittier, Alaska, during the Korean war, and later became the manager of Sherfy Distributing Company until his retirement. He was married to his wife, Dolores, for 59 years until her passing in 2011. They have two daughters, Linda Wright of Tumalo, and Rita Follett, who passed in 1997. Buck enjoyed visiting with friends and family, target shooting with his buddy, Glen, and traveling to Indian casinos with his Niece, Deb, and her husband, Tristan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Bass; daughter, Rita Follett; and his grandson, Ira Justin Wright. A brother, Clifford Schmidling, survives him; his daughter, Linda Wright; and his grandchildren Cameron Wright, Tallie Belitz, and Guy Follett; He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
