NEWALL - John Putnam “Jack”
July 12, 2022. Beloved husband of
Janet Newall (nee Fay); loving father of
Matthew (Gay) Newall, Annie (Chris)
LoTempio, Lindsay Newall, and the late
Stephen Newall; devoted grandfather
of Anna Kate, Lily, Megan, Jack,
Reggie, and Evelyn; dear brother of
Constance Conn, Priscilla Sandler, and
Roger (Martha) Newall; also survived
by nieces and nephews. No prior
visitation. Friends are invited to attend a
Memorial Service on July 30th at 12 PM
in Calvary Episcopal Church (20 Milton
St., Williamsville, NY 14221).

Jack was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The family lived in Andover, then Newton, MA. He went to Newton High School where he ran track and played baseball. Jack was a devoted Red Sox fan. He recalled that Ted Williams lived in the neighborhood and would sometimes come out and play ball with the neighborhood kids. He was active in the Boy Scouts, achieved the Eagle Scout award, and was a scoutmaster. He was the son of an organist/choirmaster at Christ Church, Andover and Grace Church, Newton, MA. Jack sang in choirs from the time he was a boy, including churches in New York, Atlanta, and Calvary Church, Williamsville.

Jack was an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts and a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation, he started his career in the coffee industry at Jabez Burns & Sons in New York. He remained with the company through transfers, sales, etc. for over fifty years until his retirement in 2014 from Probat Burns, Inc.

Jack was a member of the National Ski Patrol and belonged to the Glenwood Acres and Kissing Bridge Ski Patrols. He was very active in training and testing ski patrollers, served on the NSPS Eastern Division ski and toboggan staff, and served as WNY Regional Director. He was also a PSIA ski instructor.

He was a girls softball coach, his teams were noted for success on the diamond and good times for the girls, the coaches, and the parents.

Jack was an active member of Calvary Church, Williamsville. He served as a vestry member, warden, lector, and a member or chair of numerous committees. He was much loved for training young people to become acolytes.
