Bernard Francis “Bernie” Scerbo, 77 of Henderson, NC, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was born April 5, 1945, in North Adams, Massachusetts to the late Romeo Bernard and Nora Susan Savage Scerbo. Bernie served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers, and was a member, treasurer, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middleburg United Methodist Church in Middleburg, NC. He enjoyed woodworking in his woodshop, fishing, and taking care of his girls.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Janis Scerbo Beal, and Susan Scerbo Ray.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Mollie Bobbitt Scerbo of the residence, four daughters; Nora Scerbo Humphries and husband Christopher Guille Humphries of Henderson, NC, Janis Scerbo Gill and husband William Cameron Gill of Henderson, NC, Elizabeth Gay of Graham, NC, and McKenzie Gay Williams of Ridgeway, NC, two sisters; Sally Scerbo Morris of Newport Richie, FL, and Linda Scerbo Rhea of Trinity, FL, four grandchildren; Nora Jeanne Humphries, Christina Marie Humphries, William Cameron Gill, Jr., and Dallas Scerbo Gill.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Middleburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Tabitha Pate officiating.
