Connie Louise Shepherd Birchfield-Back, age 55 of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away on July 8, 2022, surrounded by family at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky, following a battle with cancer.

Connie was born August 14, 1966, to Loretta Shepherd and the late Herbert “Buddy” Shepherd.
Connie is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Back, daughter, Shayna Birchfield, brother, Mike Shepherd and her father, Herbert “Buddy” Shepherd.

Connie is survived by her mother, Loretta Scott Shepherd of Cumberland, Kentucky, daughter, Robin (Cody) Webb of Partridge, Kentucky, step-children, Brent and Brandon Back, grandchildren, Harper LeAnn Grace Birchfield, Gunner Webb, Autumn and Logan Back, sisters, Kaye (Kevin) Creech of Partridge, Kentucky, Tammy (Tom) Woods of Lynch, Kentucky, brothers, Rick (Sheila) Shepherd of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Donald Shepherd of Cumberland, Kentucky, special friend, Donnie Ammons, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Connie was a friend to many.   She loved her daughters and grandchildren fiercely.  She was very verbal about her relationship with our Lord and Savior.  She relied on him to carry her through her darkest days.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends but request that we celebrate her life and not grieve for her.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Funeral Home with Brother Jamey Sergent and Brother Ernie Scott officiating.

Burial will follow in the Raleigh Family Cemetery in Partridge, Kentucky.
