Richard G. Doiron Livermore Falls, Maine Obituary

Richard G. Doiron

<p>Auburn - Richard G. Doiron, 92, a former resident of Jay, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022, in Auburn, of natural causes. Dad was born in Jay on November 27, 1929, to Stanislaus and Eugenie (Ouellette) Doiron, and spent most of his life in Jay. Dad spent his working life making paper and retired as the Superintendent of No. 3 paper machine at IP’s mill in Jay. Taking advantage of an early retirement offer in his mid-50’s, Dad and Mom traveled widely, to Alaska, the west coast and Europe. They spent many falls and winters in their Diplomat condo in Cocoa Beach, Florida, making many new friends from across the US and Canada. Dad was a great carpenter and all-around handyman, building homes and other improvements for family members, and was always available to ‘fix stuff’. Dad graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1947, and married Phyllis Cressey in 1949. Sadly, he was predeceased by Mom, in 2018, after 69 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his parents and all his siblings, except for his younger brother Nick of Sacramento, California. He is survived by his five children, Ritchie Rawls and husband Rich of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bob Doiron and wife Deb of Wayne, Ken Doiron and wife Pam of Bangor, Mike Doiron and wife Bryn of Wilton, and his ‘favorite’ child, youngest daughter Rachel Cooney and husband Mike of Falmouth. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and one more on the way. Dad was a proud Grampy. He and Mom attended many events of the kids over the years. The family would like to extend our appreciation to Schooner Estates in Auburn where Dad has lived for the last few years. The nurses and all staff were dedicated to giving Dad the best life and care while there. As well, for his brief stay at Clover Rehab in Auburn, where he passed, similar thanks to the very caring and supportive staff. I moved into Schooner a year ago. I was so impressed that Dick did so much walking - clearly he wanted to stay in shape and be part of what was going on. He didn't talk much, but when he did he had a lovely smile and showed a great sense of humor. I looked forward to ... Continue Reading

Dick was so well liked by all at Schooner Estates. As one of the care givers at Schooner, I will never forget his evening walks to Main entrance door, tapped on door and walked back to his room. I will miss him.
