Darrin J. Lenfestey

Nov. 2, 1979 – July 8, 2022

Darrin J. Lenfestey, 42, of Marion, passed away early Friday morning in the emergency room of Marion Health, of natural causes.

Born in Marion, he was the son of Earl A. and Nancy J. (Tatman) Lenfestey II and resided in this area his entire life.  Darrin loved being outdoors, which enabled to him to provide woodcutting delivery services. He excelled in his cooking skills, which was known to all that knew him.  He enjoyed rock-hounding, as he and Valerie had that special place near Matthews, they searched.  He had even accumulated arrowheads in his rock-hounding ventures.

Most especially, Darrin loved music.  He loved all kinds and played guitar on a daily basis.  The country or blues music he played let you know his mood-for-the-day.

He leaves behind his fiancée,  Valerie Shoemaker and her son, Zach Hughes, that Darrin viewed as his own; three sons: Jason Martin, Avery Thornburg and Tyler Lenfestey.  His mother, Nancy Lenfestey (Jerry Robbins) of Hartford City; sister: Lisa J. Shanayda; and his four-legged children missing him: dog, Lalo and cat, River.  Additionally, several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

His father precedes him in death on May 9, 1989. His grandparents:  Earl A. and Martha (Teske) Lenfestey I and Bill L. and Phoebe (Hudson) Tatman. Five brothers:  Royce A., Jeral D., Pete J., Cort C. and Earl Avery Lenfestey III (in infancy); one sister, Wrenay K. Setser have all preceded him in death.

Services are at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 14th in the Waters Funeral Home 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.  Burial immediately follows at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 13th from 4 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
