Richard "Tracy" Anderson Obituary

Richard “Tracy” W. Anderson passed away Friday July 8th, 2022 peacefully at home in Woodbury, CT in the presence of Kathy, his wife of 64 years and the Love of his life.

Richard was a highly successful engineer, a brilliant business executive, a wonderful husband, a caring father of four, and a loving grandfather of five.

As a young boy, he developed a lifelong passion for airplanes beginning as a Washington, CT, airplane spotter during WWII. He graduated with a Degree of Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1954 which launched his engineering career with some of the nation’s best aeronautical companies notably Grumman Aircraft, Sikorsky Aircraft, and Pratt and Whitney.

While his passion remained with airplanes, his talent truly shined in business and management. After obtaining an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, he led AMF’s Electrical Products Division in Bristol England, launching a four-year family experience living abroad. After moving back to the US, he continued running various companies as a GM, VP, and President. Richard’s management style of ‘people first’ was ahead of its time. After retiring, Richard returned to his love of airplanes and attained his private pilot’s license.

Young Richard was a flashy dresser, a “crazy legs” dancer, and often the life of the party. He later became an expert-extraordinaire snow blower, designed and built two houses in Woodbury, and had a wicked golf slice!

Richard is survived by his wife Kathy, their four children Anna (Lance) Lankford, Amy Anderson, Michael (Karen Knabel) Anderson, Aliya (Neil) Nylander, and five wonderful and beautiful grandchildren Rachel and Ellen Anderson, Zachary and Ezekiel Fenelon and Eli Huven.

Visitation is on Friday, July 15, at 10-11 AM at St. Teresa Church, Main Street, Woodbury. Funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM. Committal is private at the convenience of the family.

We would like to thank SameDay Visiting CareGivers Margarita, Christine, Lindsey, and particularly Paola who cared for “Mr. Richard” with love and compassion, and with the Accent Hospice team Sara (RN), Julio, and Mo.
