Shirley Parsons

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on July 6, 2022, in the presence of her loving family, Shirley (Wells) Parsons at the age of 92 years, formerly of Hare Bay, Bonavista Bay, and later residing in Mount Pearl and Paradise.<br><br>Shirley is predeceased by: her loving husband, Russell Parsons; her parents, Percy and Nellie Wells; brothers, Joe (Edna), Claude, Boyde; and sister, Lydia (Eugene). <br><br>Left with fond and loving memories are: her two daughters, Brenda (Paul) Andrews and Yvonne (Keith) Dawe; four grandchildren, Brad (Vanessa) and Matt (Jennifer) Dawe and Christopher (Laura) and Lauren Andrews; four great-grandchildren, Julie, Megan, Jacob and Liam Dawe, whom she adored; her sister, Dorothy Wells; sister-in-law, Ella Wells; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. <br><br>Shirley was born in Hare Bay, Bonavista Bay, where she raised her family. She later moved to Mount Pearl to reside with her daughter and then to Karwood Retirement Retreat in Paradise. Throughout her lifetime, she was an active member of the Salvation Army Corps at Hare Bay and at the St. John’s Citadel. She loved her church family and was an active participant in many groups and social activities.<br><br>The family is very grateful for the exemplary care provided by the staff of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and Karwood Retirement Retreat, and we extend our deepest thanks. Our sincere thanks, as well, to the staff of Barrett’s Funeral Home and Oram’s Funeral Home for their caring support as we lay mom to rest.<br><br>Visitation will take place at Oram’s Funeral Home, Dover, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday July 10, 2022. <br><br>Funeral will take place at the Hare Bay-Dover Salvation Army Citadel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday July 11, 2022. <br>Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Hare Bay. <br>The service will be live streamed to Orams Funeral Homes Facebook Page for those who cannot attend.<br><br>The family respectfully requests that masks be worn both at the funeral homes and at the funeral service. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Hare Bay-Dover Salvation Army Citadel, the St. John’s Salvation Army Citadel, or to a charity of one’s choice.<br> <br>
