The first child of Walter and Helen Herold, seven years later his brother Dwight was born. He grew up and lived and worked in Marion County near Melcher-Dallas his entire life. Don was married to June Williams on August 2, 1959. They were blessed with three daughters: Jolene, Darla, and Terri. Don was patient, kind, and had a huge heart. He was a cook at the VA in Knoxville for many years, but his passion was for farming. He had a diversified farming operation raising crops, hogs, chickens, and cattle. He loved raising Polled Herefords and sold bulls for many years. After retiring Don worked at McCorkle Hardware, he enjoyed the work and the friends he worked with. Don and June were very active members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday School, was an Elder, and a trustee. Don’s hobby was working, but he did do a little woodworking, he enjoyed coon hunting in his younger years, and always found time to go camping with Jim and Shirley, and Harold and Donna, and after moving to town Don enjoyed working in the garden. His greatest treasure was his family and he always made time to enjoy the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don was called home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
