George Ford Jr.

George Ford Jr., 72, of Ottumwa, died at 7:30 a.m. July 5, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born August 26, 1949 in Ottumwa to George and Flola Curran Ford Sr. George was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He had worked at TENCO Industries and was an avid participant in the Special Olympics. Surviving is his sister, Suella Ford Bowers of Glendale, AZ; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Margaret Ford; sisters, Beverly Cosner, Virginia Ryan and infant, Teresa Ford. Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 8th at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. For those unable to attend the service, it may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. George’s life was enhanced by those around him through Special Olympics, TENCO, Crest Services and Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa. In his memory, his family asks memorials be given to those organizations. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
