Born May 01, 1941, to Ida and Harold Lavine, Bob grew up in College Park Maryland. He graduated from George Washington University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts, and then from George Washington University Medical school in 1966. He became an intern and then resident at Boston City hospital, followed by a research fellowship in Medicine at Harvard Medical school. He was then the chief of the general medicine research branch where he was a Major in the US Army. He then did research at the VA hospital in Washington DC followed by research at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. Thereafter, he entered the private practice of medicine in Pensacola Florida in the field of Endocrinology from 2003-2012. He was the Chief of Endocrinology at Shand’s Hospital in Jacksonville Florida when he retired in was2007. <br><br>Bob had four great passions in his life:<br><br>The first was Karen, his wife of 59 years. Next, was playing his Violin. Bob performed professionally with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra for 20 years. The Third was his love of the water. Bob an avid fisherman, sailor and conservationist. Finally, Medicine. Bob was fascinated about the complex chemical experiment which is the human body. He cared deeply about his family, his friends and his patients.<br><br>Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Karen, son Gary, son David, daughter in law’s Cindy and Deborah, grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Alex (1), Andrew, Gabriel, Alex (2) and Victoria. <br><br>Bob will be laid to rest beside his son Scott who preceded him in his death, on Saturday July 9, 2022, at 10:00 am at Temple Beth El Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
