Jonathan Bryan Coon, age 76, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at North Okaloosa Medical Center.  He was born December 26, 1945.  Jonathan was Baptist by faith and attended New Harmony Baptist Church.  He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.  He went on to serve for nearly 30 years on a dredge ship as a merchant marine, and during his retirement he enjoyed bee keeping.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Annie B. Coon; two sisters, Mary King and Katherine Weeks; and two brothers, Roger Coon and Thomas Lundy.

Jonathan is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Coon; son, Brian Coon and wife Laurie; daughter, Regina Coon; brother, Willie Coon; and his nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Cluster Springs Cemetery beginning at 10 a.m. with Reverend Todd Camp officiating.  Friends are invited to join the family after the service at New Harmony Baptist Church for a time of food and fellowship.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice or Cancer Freeze.
