<p>NEW GLASGOW - Rebecca Jean "Jean” Trefry, 89, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, July 1, 2022.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Churchville in 1932, she was the daughter of the late James Irving MacKenzie and Annie (Myrtle).</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving is her sister Kathy, sister-in-law Gladys and her daughters, Lorraine Urquhart and Bonnie Logan; grandchildren, Tammie, Tim, Amy and Janet; great grandchildren, Robert, William, James and Sophie and many other family and friends. She was involved in her community as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, statistician of the housewives bowling league and a regular player at Bingo. She loved to travel. Family camping trips have left us all with fond memories. She made many bus trips to the US and drove across Canada in year 2000. One of her most favorite trips was to the Dominican Republic. At home when she wasn't busy with her many pets, family and friends, she loved to dance, play bingo and bowl. She was also a talented seamstress and made dresses to ties &amp; tops to bingo bags.</p><p><br></p><p>Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Jim, brother Lou, sister Doris and husband, Buster Kelly.</p><p><br></p><p>An interment of both Jean and Buster will take place on July 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow.</p><p><br></p><p>Donations may be made in Jean’s memory at the Pictou County SPCA.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Lovingly submitted by granddaughter, Amy.</p>
