Mrs. Annie Bertha Smith Carlile, age 93, passed away July 4, 2022 at her home. A native of Greene County, she was born August 12, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Lillie Hill Smith. She resided most of her life in Greene County and made her own in the family homeplace in the Shine Community and was affectionally known as “Aunt Bee” to many who knew her. She was an active member of Fort Run PFWB Church where she had served many years as a Sunday School Teacher. Talented with her hands, she enjoyed crafts, crocheting and cake decorating. However, she most cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Annie possessed a keen mind and was always willing to learn, even until her last days. Her surviving family includes her son, Ronald Carlile and wife Rhonda of Raleigh; grandchildren, Ragen Carlile (Will Catterson) of Raleigh and Rayne Carlile (Zouheir Boussaid) of Apex; great-grandchildren, Addilee Catterson, Alleya Boussaid, Ayda Boussaid, and Ameila Boussaid; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Carlile; a son, James Roy Carlile, Jr; sisters, Alma S. Huber and Inez S. Kearney; and brothers, J.P. Smith, Carl Smith, A.J. Smith and Rudolph Smith. Funeral services will be held graveside 11 AM Wednesday, July 6th, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend Larry Turlington officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 5 PM Saturday, August 13th, at Fort Run PFWB Church with dinner provided by the family and dessert provided by Aunt Bee's friends.
