On July 1, 2022, Helen Louise Dart (Graves) quietly passed away at the age of 95. Originally from Amarillo, Texas, she moved with her family to San Francisco at the age of 3, graduated from Mission High School and found work post-World War II at Pacific Telephone at 140 New Montgomery. There she met the love of her life, Richard H. Dart. After six weeks of dating, they married at City Hall to begin their marriage that lasted over 72 years. After her marriage, she continued to work for a short time, but soon dedicated her time and love to her family. In the tradition of the day, she maintained the home while Richard remained the bread-winner. She moved her family to San Bruno in 1958 where she and Richard would live for over 60 years. She remained a stalwart presence to her family, friends and neighbors the entire time. Her devotion to Richard and his to her was inspiring to their family and those who met them. Until a few months prior to Richard’s death in 2018, they could often be seen walking together and enjoying the view along the Bay, and end their morning outings with lunch at Peter’s Café or Bay Watch. She is survived by her children Steven Dart (Jan Wass-Dart) and Barbara (Robert) Castelli, and her grandson Carl Graf (Korynne). She will be remembered fondly for her tender nature, sense of humor and joy of singing. We miss her.
