Marilyn L. Richardson

Marilyn L. Richardson, 94, of Lafayette, IN, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022. Marilyn was born January 1/11/1928 in Wabash County, IN to Harold F. and and Dorothy F. (Hawkins) Lauer. She has been a resident of Lafayette since 1962. She graduated Peru High School in 1946. Marilyn owned a coin shop and Coonrod Insurance in Kokomo. She also worked at Lafayette Instrument as a secretary for 10 years. Marilyn married Paul Coonrod in September of 1949 in Lagro, IN. He preceded her in death in March of 1995. She then married Kenneth F. Richardson in February of 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Lafayette. He preceded her in death in February 2017. She attended the First Baptist Church, enjoyed working word puzzles, needlework, and was part of the American Legion 492 Auxiliary. Marilyn was also a great artist and enjoyed doing oil paintings along with being an accomplished seamstress, making her own clothes. Surviving are her children: Hattie Hatfield of Avon, IN, Curtis Coonrod (family friend, Portia) of Lawrence, IN, Joyce (Paul) Spencer of Fridley, MN, and Ramona Coonrod of Lebanon, IN; four grandchildren: Adam Hatfield of Visila, CA, Mariah (Michael) Cody of Avon, IN, Sara (Jason) Langworthy of MN, and Erin Coonrod of Lebanon, IN; and five great-grandchildren: Merick Colson, Macklin Cody, Tennessee, Lorelai and Genevieve Hatfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Denny Lauer, sisters Evelyn Brindle and Doris Bokamper and son-in-law Coy Hatfield. Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Daniel Hartley officiating.
