Laura Jean Wilson, age 60, passed away peacefully at home on June 30th 2022 in Virgilina, VA after a long battle with cancer. She was born on January 24th 1962 in Del Rio, TX. Laura was a very loving person who had a very big heart along with a huge passion for helping others in any way she could. She and her husband spent many years as dedicated and committed caregivers in Tucson, Az. before moving to North Carolina in 2011 to be closer to their family through her cancer battle. She loved to cook, bake and spend quality time with family, friends & all of her loved ones, near or far, as much as possible.

Laura will be remembered for the gentle caring person she was but also for her many delicious recipes and cooking.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Samuel (Sammy) Wilson; stepson Greg Wilson(Sandra); 2 grandchildren Kaylee and Keagan; 2 great grandchildren Emery and Lily; sister Deborah Stanley (Rick); brother Gary Smith; 1 niece Stephanie Smith; 2 nephews David Billings and Joey Harris(Reba); several great nieces and nephews and many close relatives & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Anita Gizela Bower and Daniel Jesse Smith.

A memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Laura asked for donations to be made to Sentara Hospice in South Boston, VA. or the American Cancer Society.
