Carolyn Taylor Obituary

Our mother, Carolyn Taylor, age 84, entered into heaven on Saturday, July 2, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on October 8, 1937, in Dubach, Louisiana, where she lived until the age of 17. Our mother's life story truly began on a cool October night in 1954 in a small high school gym in Spearsville, Louisiana where she was playing in a basketball tournament. It was that night, as the story goes, that a handsome, blue-eyed, Air Force Airman named Beuford Taylor asked her name. Thus, began a love story that lasted 66 years until Beuford’s death on December 10, 2021. It was one of Daddy’s proudest moments when Mother graduated from Louisiana Tech University. She graduated Magnum Cum Laude with her B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education along with a flight certification from the Aviation School all while caring for three small children. Her teaching career started in Union Parish at Lillie Elementary where she taught 4th grade. She touched many children's lives during those years and treated each one as if they were her own. After teaching for many years, she became an Elementary Reading Coordinator for Union Parish; then served the remainder of her career at Junction City Elementary as Assistant Principal.

Mother was a devoted and faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, accepting the Lord at the age of eight years old. From her summers at Miracle Camp Bible Memory Association, her devotion to the word of God and the importance of prayer was instilled and remained with her always. Her prayer life was a testimony to all who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren. We always knew that Mom was praying for us through every situation and challenge in life and considered it a blessing when we called to ask for specific prayers. Even after the Alzheimer's had taken most of her memories, she could still recite complete chapters of scripture. Her lifelong faith in God and devotion to her husband and family was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Beuford Ernie Taylor, her parents, T.R. and Maggie Huffman, infant brother, Jimmy, and her sister Alice Ruth Huffman Audirsch.

Left to cherish and hold on to her legacy are her children, Kay Brown (Mike), Dana Taylor, Tommy Taylor (Carolyn); grandchildren, Leslie Younse (Ty), Brandon Washam (Anna), Maggie Tarver (Jarred), Taylor Pearce (Brandon), Haley Nipper (Weldon), Andrea Simpson (Ryan), Blake Taylor (Kenlee), great-grandchildren; Parker Younse, Lily, Gilly, and Elly Washam, Greer and Griffin Tarver, Annie and Wells Beuford Pearce, Addilyn Nipper, and Finley Simpson. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Delony, brothers Jerry and Keith Huffman, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Ethelle Colvin, and her dear lifelong friends Louise Pearson and Erma Milhollen. Special thanks to Mary Garris and Tammy Arabe for all the loving care they gave to our Mother and Daddy.
