James P. Grimaldi
<p>James P. Grimaldi, 73, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 at his home with his daughter by his side. Born in Springfield, MA on April 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Alfonso M. and Claire B. (Sheridan) Grimaldi. He attended Holyoke Community College and North Adams State College, obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree.</p> <p> </p> <p>For 40 years, Jim was a dedicated teacher in the Springfield Schools. In his spare time, he was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge #61, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Boston Sports Fan. Since 1975, he was a New England Patriots Season Ticket Holder.</p> <p> </p> <p>Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his loving wife of 30 years, Darlene F. (Babowicz) Grimaldi, who passed away August 7, 2015. To cherish his memory, he leaves his daughter, Heather N. Grimaldi of Wilbraham; his brother Michael Grimaldi and his wife JoAnn of Ponce Inlet, FL; his sister Barbara Grzebien and her husband Walter; several nieces and a nephew; lifelong friends James Shields, Rick Kamp, Mark Grych and John Fedak as well as his canine companion Bella aka “Knucklehead”.</p> <p> </p> <p>The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the healthcare workers and first responders that showed Jim such compassion and care.</p> <p> </p> <p>Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St Cecilia Church, 42 Main St, Wilbraham, MA. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Road, Springfield.</p> <p> </p> <p>Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory and in honor of his battle against Prostate Cancer, may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.</p>April 7, 1949 - July 2, 202204/07/194907/02/2022
