Elaine Gail (Roderick) Daniel, 85, of Beaman, IA, passed away on July 3, 2022, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook, IA. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Liscomb Cemetery with Pastor Matt Bishop of the Bangor-Liberty Friends Church officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com. Elaine was born July 31st, 1936 in Pontiac, Michigan to Hubert and Myrtle (Wilhite) Roderick, the oldest of 3 girls. Elaine grew up in the Houston, Missouri area and graduated from Houston High School in 1957. She married Dean Daniel in 1954 and 5 children, Robert (Bob), Ronald (Ron), Randall (Randy), Patricia (Patty), and Donald (Don) came of this union. Dean and Elaine divorced in 1971. Elaine was an excellent shot and could cut cigarettes in half at 100 paces with a 22 rifle. She worked at the malt shop while in High School and had many friends. Elaine was a homemaker most of her married life, devoted to her large family. She worked for Iowa Wholesale in Marshalltown for over 7 years as a secretary, and was an excellent typist. Later, Elaine worked for Olan Mills Photography for over 5 years after moving to Palatine, Illinois. She developed dementia and Alzheimer’s in her late 70s and spent the next 8 years in a nursing home in Tennessee, then in Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Elaine enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren very much, and was a good friend, sister and mother. Left to cherish her memory is her sister; Myrna Gormley, of Honolulu, HI, children; Bob (Veronica) Daniel, of Bangor, IA, Randy (Kim) Daniel of Beaman, IA, Patty Baily of Nashville, TN, Don Daniel of Tama, IA, grandchildren Stephanie Swanson, Cortney Daniel, Amy Baily-Petty, Bryan Daniel, Jason Baily, Rebecca Gimzo, Michael Daniel, and James Daniel, great grandchildren Darian, Harrison, Corrine, Clara, Logan, Grayson, Brianna, Trent, and Nash, and numerous great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty McDaniel, ex-husband Dean Daniel, son Ron Daniel, and granddaughter Jennifer Baily-Davis.
