Gloria Laureen Allford, at the age of 88, with her children close, passed away on June 23rd, 2022 at Beausejour Hospital. She leaves behind her four Children, Guy (Pat), Gerry (Sandy), Joy (Herb) and Teri (Gregg), Grandchildren, Lindsey (Jordan), Frazer (Krissy), Madison, (Cameron), Tyler, (Sarah), Brendan, (Jaydee), Tanner, (Taylor) and Travis. Great Grandchildren, Slade, Beck, Krew, Laik, Emersyn, Payton, Brayden, Logan and Kashten. Nieces, Vickie Sturtridge, Val and Paul Borthistle, and Nephew, Gord Sturtridge. Mom was predeceased by her husband Warren, her parents Laura and Jack Gibson and her grandson Ryan Allford.

Mom met Dad in Grade 6. She would often tell us, even as recently as a few weeks ago, how she remembered him walking into the classroom and how he was such "a looker, and all around, great guy." The feelings must have been mutual because the rest was history.

Together they built a beautiful life, raising their 4 children. Summers at Falcon Lake included picnics and swimming at Buggy Beach with peanut butter and jam/sand sandwiches, water skiing, boat rides and golf. It was a place where memories, both hilarious and scary, were made and are built into the fabric of our childhood. Mom was feisty and had a great sense of humour! She was a fierce fan of her family's sports, dance and musical talents. So passionate, that she was once escorted out of a baseball diamond for strongly disagreeing with an umpire's call.

Mom had a tender, loving side that was gentle and unconditional. Her love of family, dogs and animals of any kind were at the forefront of who she was. She enjoyed music of almost any kind however Tom Jones was one of her favourites. She lit up when jiving with Dad, and together they tore up more than one dancefloor, doing so. When mom wasn't carting us kids to hockey, baseball or dance, she found time to sew costumes for our dance recitals, all the while keeping us fed and watered! Mom and Dad rarely missed any games or events that their kids took part in. Her support and devotion to family didn't stop with her kids, but continued on with the following of her grandkids and great grandkids. When she spoke of her family, it was clearly evident, the pride she felt.

Golf was a passion that Mom and Dad shared and it opened up a world of Travel and friendships. They wintered in Palm Springs and Lake Havasu and enjoyed games of golf on many courses here and away. Their membership at Elmhurst Golf course expanded their circle of friends and brought them time together, playing the game they loved. Our family made lots of great memories on vacations where we joined them while they were away.

Since Dad had passed, we could feel and see that mom was slowly slipping away. Her memories, bright from years gone by and somewhat muddled as of late. She fought so hard to stay and despite her strong love for her family, her body was tired and ready to find peace.

We will miss our calls to remind mom of the Jets and Bomber's games, where she would talk about what they were doing wrong or giddy with excitement about their lead or win! Or simply to reminisce, assure her that she wasn't alone and that she was so loved. Mom, may your pockets be filled with Kleenex, Sugar Twin and Caramels. ❤️

Mom and Dad were inseparable in life, and now together for eternity. Their legacy will live on in all of us, such a precious gift ❤️

The family would like to thank the Nurses, Healthcare Aides and staff at Beausejour Hospital for trying to keep mom comfortable during her palliative journey.

To Springfield Place, thank you for being there for mom, when we couldn't be. It allowed her to keep somewhat of an independent lifestyle and gave us some peace of mind knowing there was always someone close by. She made some special bonds there that we, her family, are appreciative of.

Lastly, but not in any way, least, we thank Sheryl and Holly at Seasons Funeral Chapel for their gentle guidance and loving way they embraced mom and our family through a very sorrow filled time. They are angels on earth and are doing exactly what they were meant to do!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following, or the charity of your choice. Or, a good deed for anyone in need!

Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, Beausejour TV Fund or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba
