Jordan Douglas Ross Obituary

The family of Jordan Ross is deeply saddened to announce his passing at the age of 41.

Jordan (aka Joe, JR, Rosco and Dad) was born in Brandon in 1980 to Allan and Sally (Turner) Ross. He spent his younger years surrounded by his loving family, including brothers Mark and Jeff. Jordan attended Valleyview School and participated in hockey, baseball, basketball, and skateboarding. He spent summers at Clear Lake creating fond memories with family and neighbourhood friends. Jordan went on annual family ski trips to the mountains where he discovered his love for snowboarding.

It was through the skate/snowboard scene that Jordan found his people and his passion. After completing high school at Vincent Massey, he set out to explore the world. He spent a season at Lake Louise snowboarding and then traveled through Asia prior to spending a couple of years living in Australia.

Jordan met the love of his life, Katherine, in grade 8, although they didn’t officially become a couple until their early 20s when their shared adventure began. They spent time at Big White, Jasper and travelled extensively together. In 2010, the second love of Jordan’s life, his daughter Micah, was born. Jordan loved her like no other and supported her with everything she was into - gymnastics, snowboarding, crafts, art, and more. Micah had the goofy, fun dad who all the kids envied. He was a true family man, a devoted and supportive husband. He and Katherine celebrated their 20th anniversary this past year.

In 2002, Jordan and Bob Rutledge opened Senate Skateshop in Brandon and a year later expanded, opening another shop in Jasper, AB. Jordan spent many hours mentoring and coaching kids in the skating/snowboarding community. He created a welcoming, positive space for kids and positively influenced many lives. In his role on the board of the Christopher Campbell Skate Park Project (Brandon, MB), he was instrumental in getting the skate park off the ground and seeing it through to completion.

In 2012, Jordan closed the skate shop to explore other opportunities. He worked maintenance for the Wheat City Golf Course for a few years, enjoying the physical work outdoors. During the winters of 2012-2015, Jordan created and ran The Ranch at Grand Valley Park (The Brandon Snowboard Club.)

In 2016, Jordan, along with his wife Katherine, took over the operation of Grand Valley Park. It was a labor of love and he worked tirelessly to bring the Park back to its former glory. Customers looked forward to visiting the campground because of Jordan’s kindness and welcoming manner. After a few years of planning/creation, the family opened Tubin’ at Grand Valley Park in 2021/2022, a downhill winter tube park. It was a great success and families traveled from near and far to experience the new activity.

The campground wasn’t so much a business for Jordan’s family as a way of life, a way to be together. They loved zipping around on the golf cart to greet customers and spent many hours with campers who became friends. In his spare time, Jordan loved to go river tubing, snowboarding, indoor climbing, and out for drinks with his friends. He also loved to spend time with his dog, Juno, and go on vacations with his girls.

Jordan will be remembered as a charismatic community leader and entrepreneur who made a lasting impact on the lives he touched. His projects always focused on bringing the community together, and no project was too big or too small.

His family and countless friends will forever remember him as a kind, easygoing and extremely fun guy. Jordan will continue to inspire us as we remember his gentle spirit, warm smile and great laugh.

Jordan is survived by his wife, Katherine Jeroski; daughter, Micah Ross; mother, Sally Ross (Kerry Rensby); brothers, Mark Ross (his son, Haidyn) and Jeff (Jennifer) Ross (their children, Caleb, Morgan & Dawson); step-brothers, Jordan (Brooke) Rensby and Jamie Rensby; mother and father-in-law, Heather & Dave Jeroski; sisters-in-law, Amanda Jeroski (Graham Heuchert, and their children, Dakota and Ashton Heuchert) and Jocelyn (Anthony) Radawiec (their children, Julian & Nathaniel).

Jordan was predeceased by his father, Allan Ross, in 2012 and grandmother, Enid Dodd in 2006.
