Virginia Gail McDonald Moore

Andrews: Virginia Gail McDonald Moore, 71, wife of Michael W. Moore passed away July 1, 2022, at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston. Mrs. Moore was born in Florence on September 4, 1950, a daughter of the late Harvey E. McDonald and Virginia Hardee McDonald. She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1968; she went on to receive her degree in Atlanta, GA as a dental assistant and worked as an assistant for several years. Mrs. Moore was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir and a member of the Mary-Martha Circle. Gail enjoyed working at Andrews Primary as a substitute teacher and volunteered in school functions to support her children. She also worked as the secretary for the family business. While raising her children, Gail was known as the “Clemons Pond Mama” and babysitter to all the neighborhood kids. She loved her husband of 52 years, who was devoted in caring for her throughout their lifetime together. Gail loved her girls so much and was very proud to call them hers. She was a loving wife, mother, Memaw, daughter, sister, and aunt. Her siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews also held a truly special place in her heart. As much as she loved all of her family, her greatest joy were her grandchildren and treasured being so active in their lives. Gail was a kind and caring person who met no strangers and always greeted everyone with a big contagious smile. She will surely be missed by her family and all the great friends who loved her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by: Her brother Harvey Gene McDonald; her mother and father-in-law Pete and Goldie Moore; brothers-in-law Houston Platt, Tim Moore, Gregg Moore, and Gregg Cooper; sister-in-law Teresa Byrd; and nieces Cheryl Moore and Marcy Potterfield. In addition to her Husband, Gail is survived by: four daughters, Tonya Moore (Stoney Cantor), Ginger Moore Morris (Richy), Meredith Moore Rodgers (Jeremy) and Malynne Moore Hollar (Allen); eight grandchildren Jule Morris, Abigail Morris, Micha Cantor, Skylar Cantor, Makayla Rodgers, Jamison Rodgers, Coleman Hollar and Goldie Hollar; a sister, Annalyn McDonald Platt; a very special sister-in-law Sherry McDonald; and her dear in-laws of the Moore family, John and Judy Moore, Jimmy Moore, Mary Lou Moore, Patricia Rogerson, Tony and Isabel Moore, Jeff Moore, Roger and Debbie Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be five o’clock Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 205 South Rosemary Ave, Andrews, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from four until five in the Family Life Center of the church.
