William Thomas Beeson

William Thomas Beeson passed away peacefully at the Kansas Veterans Home at the age of 53 on July 2, 2022 following a long battle with Huntington’s Disease. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Willy was born on November 26th, 1968 in Oklahoma City, OK to Ronald Thomas and Betty Jean (Cooper) Beeson. He moved to Arkansas City, KS at the age of 8 and finished growing up there. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Boy Scout Troop 328. Willy loved camping, hiking, fishing and swimming and went to Philmont Scout Ranch twice. He attended Arkansas City High School where he was a member of the band and enjoyed both football and wrestling. After graduation in 1987 he entered the United States Navy where he proudly served on the USS Concord. He was on a tour in the Mediterranean when Desert Storm broke out and was rerouted to help supply the ships in the Red Sea. After serving four years he attended Cowley County Community College and obtained his associates degree in automotive technology. Willy enjoyed working on and rebuilding old autos and he loved going fast. Whether on a motorcycle, racing a go-cart, water skiing, tubing behind a jet boat or testing out a rebuilt engine in a classic junker. To fund his hobbies, he got his A & P license and went to work at General Electric, where he worked until he retired on disability. Willy often grilled steaks for everyone in the GE stockroom. Willy loved food and loved hanging out with his friends and family. He also loved surprises, from practical jokes to sometimes lavish presents, anything to get a laugh or a smile. He is survived by his mother and her husband, Betty and Dusty Rhodes; his sister and her husband, Rhonda and Darrin Green; his nephew Everett Thomas Green and his niece Marguerite Jean Green. As well as his step brother Chris Rhodes and wife Tammy. His aunt Winalee (Beeson) Carter, Uncle David Beeson and Aunt Marylin Long and her husband Ed as well as several cousins, including his favorite Laura Hall and her husband David. Willy was preceded in death by his father Ron; his grandparents, Warren and Helen (Stockton) Cooper, William Thomas Beeson, Garvin and Helen (Burnett/Beeson) Gibson as well as his aunt and uncles Jim Brand, Margaret Brand and Jim Cooper.
