Elda Yu de Martinez, 88, died Friday July 1, 2022 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 18, 1933 in Yucatan, Mexico the daughter of Pedro and Pilar Yu Kim. She married Antonio Martinez on June 1960 at Juarez , Mexico. He died June 16, 1998.

She was very proud of her Korean heritage and enjoyed cooking authentic Kim Chi and Mandu for her family. She was the first of several Elda’s to grace the family lineage. Her Catholic faith sustained her through many hardships. She loved God and practiced her faith with fervor, and was also devoted to the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe and Holy Infant of Atocha.

She is survived by her Children-Elda (Jorge) Caro & Pedro Antonio Martinez; Grandchildren- Elda Menjivar, Jazmin Quintero Caro, Frankie Frias, Tony Martinez, Emelyn Caro and Isa Caro and 8 Great Grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her Son-Carlos Martinez, Daughter - Virginia Frias and Granddaughter- Yaneth Frias

Visitation will be held 12:00-5:00 pm Tuesday July 5, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home with a 7:30 pm Rosary to follow at St Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held 2:00pm Wednesday July 6, 2022 also at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
