Doris Weeks

FARMINGTON – Doris Hobart Weeks, 97, died July 2 2022 at the Pierce House in Farmington Maine.<br> She was born Nov. 25, 1924 in Rowley, Massachusetts, the daughter of Rufus S. and Emily (Hobart) Carter. At the death of her father in 1929 she was adopted by her uncle S. Edmund Hobart and her aunt, Marion Atkins Hobart of Princeton Maine where she grew up. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1943 and graduated with a B. S. in Education from the University of Maine at Orono in 1947.<br> She married Milton Weeks on Dec. 24, 1949. He predeceased her on June 22, 2017. The couple moved to Rumford in Nov. of 1952, where they raised their two sons.<br> She was a classical violinist, playing in many local orchestras. Doris was active in the United Methodist Church in both Rumford and Farmington. She also was a life member and past matron of Mt. Zircon Chapter #142 O.E.S of Rumford. <br> In 1997, Doris and Milton moved to Glenview Terrace in Farmington and wintered in Orange City, Florida. Summers were spent at their cottage on Big Lake in Grand Lake Stream, Maine.<br> She was loved by her sons Robert and his wife Sharon of Winthrop, and Tom and his wife Karen of Hyde Park Vermont. Grandchildren: Betzi Bilodeau (Andy), Katherine Weeks (Guillaume), Tricia Allen (Chris), Ben Weeks, Leah Sherman, Abby Sherman- McCullough (Ian), Matthew Weeks, Stephen Weeks and Deborah Weeks. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, brother Richard C. Carter of Cape Coral, Florida and two half-brothers Frank and Edmund Grundstrom, both of Tucson, AZ. She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Brocklebank and by a brother Rufus S. Carter.<br> Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, July 16 from 12 Noon until 1 PM at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington where funeral services will be held at 1 PM. A comfort reception will follow services at the Center. Committal services will be held at 3:15 PM at the East Wilton Cemetery.
