Carmen Ramona Church Obituary

Carmen Ramona Church, 93, of Burlington passed away peacefully on 29 June, 2022 at the University of Vermont's McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont.  She was the eldest of four children born to Earnest and Loretta Cavoretto.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1946 where she held various student council positions and also served as the class Vice President for many subsequent class reunions.  On April 24, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lorne Church in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Delores who married her high school sweetheart William Sidney Spence.

Carmen and Richard were married for 68 years until Richard’s passing in 2016.  Richard served for 35 years in the military and they lived and traveled throughout the US, Europe and Asia with their sons.  One of Carmen’s favorite memories, was the time she spent with her father, Earnest, in Italy tracking down distant relatives.  She also reminisced about when the family was in the states and spent many Christmases’ traveling to Burlington to spend the holidays with her extended family.

Carmen and Richard had three sons: Peter, Michael and Christopher.  She was predeceased by two sisters: Nola Cadieux and Delores Spence and her eldest son Peter and his wife Debbie.  She leaves two sons, Michael and his wife Carol; Christopher and his wife Lynette and five grandchildren: Heather, Lorne, Nicholas, Angeline and Eric Church and two great grandchildren Logan and Riley Church.  She also leaves her sister Marlene Smiley and sister-in-law Rita Church along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visitation.   A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held at Our Lady of Grace in Colchester in the near future.  A graveside service will follow the Mass at the family plot in East Cemetery in Williston.  Arrangements are in the care of the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel 68 Pinecrest Dr. in Essex Junction.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the McClure Miller Respite house or the charity of one’s choice.  The family wants to sincerely thank the staff of The McClure Miller Respite House for the professional and personal attention paid to Carmen.  To send online condolences to the family, please visit www.readyfuneral.com <http://www.readyfuneral.com/>
