Annette M. (Roy) Royer, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Annette was born in Saint Isidore, Quebec, Canada, on December 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Eva (Dumont) Roy. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Springfield. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerard, her daughter Sylvia Papineau and her son Richard Royer, 3 sisters and 8 brothers. Annette is survived by her three devoted children Roger Royer and his wife Denise of W. Granby, CT., Lisa Nelson and her husband Robert of Dunstable, MA., and Diane Fradette and her husband Michel of East Longmeadow, and she leaves a sister Marguerite Grenier of Canada. She also leaves her daughter-in -law, Linda Royer (Richard) and her son-in law, Fr. Daniel Papineau (Sylvia). Left also behind are her cherished 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Annette was an avid card player, loved her French-Canadian music and enjoyed her game nights at the Wellington with her dear friends. One of her proudest achievements was playing the organ as a youth at her church in St. Isidore.
Annette’s biggest joy in life was to celebrate and gather with her family. She was truly the matriarch, and our family will never be quite the same, however her love and example live on in each generation.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Annette on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 9a.m. - 10a.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Avenue, Springfield.
