Passed away peacefully at his home on June 28th, 2022 at the age of 81. John was born in Milwaukee, the son of Mae and Donald. John was married to Pat and was a devoted husband for 63 years. John was the father of three, Gail (Gary) Harvancik and Pam (Dan) Listle. He was preceded in death by his special son, Charlie. His grandchildren were his joy, Tim (Kathleen) Panagis, Katie Panagis, Nate (Margaret) Listle, Nick Listle, Courtney and Jeremy Harvancik. The kids loved Grandpa “Choo-Choo” and all the fun things they did together. He also adored great-grandson, Niko.
John was a long-time employee of Carrier and a member of Steamfitter’s Local 601. He spent many hours working on his ever-expanding HO model railroad and could fix anything in his work room. He enjoyed gardening, was a cross word puzzle whiz, and loved his cats and bulldogs. John and Pat were world travelers including all seven continents. His most memorable trips were to Africa and Antarctica.
He is survived by his brother, Al (Sheila) and sister-in-law, Kathy (Dan) Manders as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Betty, Shirley, Bonnie and Corabell and his brother, Mark.
John’s great big heart and sense of humor will be missed by all. Services will be held on Friday, July 15th at Becker Ritter Funeral Home from 11 AM until the time of John’s Funeral Service at 12 NOON. A procession to Pinelawn Memorial Park will follow services. In lieu of flowers, donations to Habitat for Humanity, your favorite charity or a kind act in John’s memory are greatly appreciated.
