Snow Hill - Lara Kennedy Lawson, 40, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, June 30, at 3pm in Westview Cemetery. Lara Kennedy Lawson was born on May 11, 1982, to Betty Bruce Lawson and the late Olin Thomas Lawson Jr. of Kinston, NC. Kennedy lived life boldly and fully, inspiring those around her to love unconditionally and live life to the fullest. She had a passion for art, theatre, and literature. Kennedy grew up thriving in the spotlight of her many theatrical performances in her church, Gordon Street Christian Church, and local theater. She continued her love of the arts in achieving a degree in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by grandmother, Agnes Elizabeth Ricks Kennedy of Kinston. Kennedy is survived by her fiancé, David Harrell of Snow Hill; mother, Betty Bruce Lawson; sister, Luan Lawson and her husband Kenneth Lee Johnson II; nieces, Kaitlyn Johnson and Avery Johnson; and nephew, Aidan Johnson, all of Kinston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gordon Street Christian Church, 118 E. Gordon St. Kinston, NC 28501.
