SCHWEGMAN, AL On March 15, 2016, he arrived at life’s journey’s end. He was born in Oxford to Leander and Bertha Schwegman. He was proud to have served his country in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he played professional baseball in the Baltimore Orioles minor league. He was employed at Miami for 40 years. He was a loyal fan of Miami Baseball, attending all their home games in seat #9. To further his love of baseball, he coached little league for several years. He also enjoyed going to his grandsons’ hockey and baseball games and granddaughters’ track and cross country meets. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harry Schwegman, and sister Irene Studrawa. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette Schwegman, and children Karen Ruby, Donnie (Michele) Schwegman, Sharyn (Tim) Starrett, Michele (Troy) Goetz, Kathy (Tim) McGrath and Jay (Kelly) Schwegman. He was Grandpa to 14 grandchildren and one great grandson. Visitation will take place Friday, March 18 at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home – Oxford from 6-8PM. Funeral services will take place the following day at the funeral home at 10 am. Burial will take place immediately following services at Oxford Cemetery.
