David Lee Schwartz

David Schwartz, age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at his home near Buckeye, IA. David Lee Schwartz was born on August 9, 1941, in Iowa Falls, IA, the son of Wayne and Deborah (Johnson) Schwartz. He attended Buckeye Consolidated School and graduated from Radcliffe Community High School in 1959. He was always proud to be on the 1959 Radcliffe Cardinals Football Team that restarted the Radcliffe Football Program. In the summer of 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force National Guard and stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Following his service to his country, he joined his dad farming, raising livestock, working in the family hog buying station, and trucking livestock and grain. On August 24, 1963, David married his high school sweetheart, Diane Reed at the Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. The newlyweds lived in Buckeye and the following year moved to the farm south of Buckeye where they were blessed to raise their two children, Shawn and Staci. David and Diane have fond memories camping at the Iowa State Fair, traveling to livestock auctions, visiting out of state friends and relatives, entertaining family and friends in their home, attending their grandchildren’s events and staying at the cabins at Little Wall Lake and Clear Lake. David always looked forward to ending his day enjoying Diane’s delicious cooking and warm pie. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Radcliffe. David will be fondly remembered for his loving and giving ways with his friends and family and his hard work ethic. He passed on a legacy to his children and grandchildren sharing his passion for farming, raising livestock, his love for sports, watching westerns, classic cars, driving truck, riding horses, 4-H and the love for his family. What a joy it gave David to buy his grandchildren their first pony, Sparkly at the Story City Sale Barn. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years Diane Schwartz; his children and grandchildren, Shawn Schwartz and son Bradyn Schwartz of Buckeye, IA; Staci and husband David Reifschneider of Hubbard, IA, their daughter Hannah Reifschneider of Kansas City, MO and their son Lane Reifschneider of Hubbard, IA; his Aunt Margaret Reynolds and her daughter Larie and husband Clay Miller of Sioux City, IA; cousins Jim and Norene Johnson of Eldora, IA, Tom and Sandy Johnson of Ackley, IA and Sandy Callaway of Grundy Center, IA. David was preceded in death by his parents and niece Rhonda Sunken. We are blessed and grateful to God for the life and memory of David Lee Schwartz.
