TROY Lorraine Kardas, 92, of 7th Ave. passed away peacefully Wednesday June 22, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Bilecki Michalski. She attended St. Michael’s Elementary School and was a graduate of Cohoes High School.<br><br>Lorraine worked at Montgomery Wards in Menands on the 8th floor after school and continued on there for 25 years. She was then hired as secretary for the Principals at Haskell and Rensselaer Park Elementary Schools in Lansingburgh where she worked until her retirement. She then volunteered in pre-admission testing at St. Mary’s Hospital for 25 years. She was an adorer at St. Paul’s and St. Augustine’s Parishes in the chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for over 20 years. She was a member of the Swimming Aerobics at the Cohoes Community Center for many years. She loved to bake cookies for everybody and enjoyed snitching cake frosting. She was known for her beautiful flowers and manicured garden.<br><br>Lorraine was the widow of Edward Kardas who died in 2005. She is the devoted mother of Lee J. Kardas (Theresa) of Lansingburgh, Ronald E. Kardas (Bobbi) of Valley Falls and Darlene M. Russell (Frank) of Florida. She is the sister of Donald Michalski (Dawn) of Cohoes, the late Chester Michalski, Jean DiVirgillo and Helen Roberts. She is the proud grandmother of Victoria Space, William and Richard Kardas, John Morton, Sarah Wrightington and Abigail Morton and great grandmother of Matthew, Hannah, Elliana, Ellie Mae, Reese and Luke.<br><br>Funeral services will be Monday at 9:15 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 10 am at St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford.<br><br>Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 pm.<br><br>Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Michael’s Church, 20 Page Ave., Cohoes, NY 12047.
