A graduate of Oakdale High School, Kenneth was drafted during the Korean War and spent a year and a half in Korea serving as a Military Police officer. Several years after he returned, Kenneth started working as a lineman for South Central Bell Telephone Company, where he retired after 40 years.

One of his most memorable days at work was when he installed an eight-party telephone line for the Douget family and first met Lucy. As time went by, Lucy also began working at South Central Bell and a romance blossomed. Throughout their 54 years of marriage, Kenneth and Lucy shared a love for travel and often included friends and family on their adventures. After retirement, Kenneth discovered the thrill of auctions, garage sales, and storage unit sales. You could often find him bringing in a load of “treasures” or hauling a nearly identical one out. No one could fit more into a box trailer than Kenneth - he would often pack and repack his trailer, adding more merchandise each time. It was truly a wonder to behold. But the excitement of these “treasure hunts” paled in comparison to the pleasure he took in spending time with his family.

As a father, Kenneth loved unconditionally and led by example. He instilled a love of God in Kendra and Kendal, taught them the importance of family, and demonstrated the meaning of a strong work ethic. Even when Kenneth worked full-time, he would take on extra work to save for vacations and special presents (such as a Nintendo Game Boy that showed up one Christmas, despite Lucy’s disapproval). Kenneth was equally generous as a father-in-law. He never said no if you needed him for something, whether it was moving, needing extra hands for a project, or looking after the grandkids - he was there.

“Bo” was an indulgent grandfather. All of his grandkids will tell you stories of how “MeMe” would cut off their sugar supply; Bo would intervene and have it reinstated (“Awww Lucy, give ‘em some more."). Talking with Bo and eating orange slices, popsicles, ice cream with ding dongs or cookies mixed in - all sweet memories of time spent together. As were golf cart rides, trips to Sonic, learning to drive, and traveling with Bo. He adored his grandchildren, and they adored him.

Kenneth was a man of character and integrity. A long-standing member, trustee, and deacon of the Oakdale First United Pentecostal Church, he drove the church bus, worked in Sunday School, and served in various other capacities throughout the years. He was a man of faithful service to God. Each night Kenneth would lead his family in prayer. Invariably a part of his prayer would include the words, “Lord, I want to hear you say, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant’”. While Kenneth’s death leaves a void in all of our hearts, we have no doubt that nightly prayer he prayed for so many years has been answered.
