Linda Faye Nelson Obituary

Linda Faye Nelson, age 75, of Alford, FL, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her residence while surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was raised in the small town of Hahira, GA and was the daughter to the late A.T. Carter, Sr, and Sampie Bennett Carter. She met her husband, James Earl Nelson, at the young age 17 and they married on January 6, 1964. Together, they had many wonderful years together and raised a beautiful family. Linda was a proud member of Pilgrims Rest Assembly of God Church and was a devout Christian. She loved spending time with her family, playing with her grand-babies, putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing board games.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Nelson; parents, A.T., Sr and Sampie Carter; five sisters, Louise Chancey, Elouise Slaughter, Ethelle Frier, Louelle Bass and Helen Frier; one brother, Aulie “Buddy” Carter, Jr.

Linda is survived by her sons, James Nelson, Jr. and Terrell (Denise) Nelson all of Alford, FL; daughter, Amy (Chris) Sterrett of Marianna; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Linda will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Ellis Vickery officiating. Interment will follow in Carpenter Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

The Linda Nelson family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to the numerous staff of Emerald Coast Hospice and Kindred at Home who have taken such good care of her during this difficult time.
